Schuman is the “Father of Europe” and main architect of the European Integration project. As Minister of Foreign Affairs from France, he launched the Schuman Declaration (1950), which was the birth of what is now the European Union. Schuman started the first peaceful revolution in Europe by advocating reconciliation over retaliation between archenemies France and Germany. There has never been such a long period of peace among the EU Member States. An example to follow wherever is conflict in the world.
Today, Europe is quite a mess, but Schuman’s unique vision can help us solve issues and improve ourselves and our union.
"Europe will not be made all at once, or according to a single plan. It will be built through concrete achievements which first create a de facto solidarity."
