Schuman in India!

April 27-May 5, 2024: an unforgettable enriching experience, showing that Schuman’s thoughts cross borders and are universal.

In collaboration with the Management Education & Research Institute (MERI) with Prof. Dr. Lalit Aggarwal, Vice-President MERI, Prof. Dr. Nutan Bharati, Head Journalism & Mass Media, Dr. Mamta Aggarwal, Principal Ramakrishna Secondary School, took place on April 27th 2024 with a Schuman for Kids workshop at the Rama Krishna Secondary School.

About 70 School children of the ages 11-13 exhibited their beautiful art work on Schuman’s key principles for European integration, that is: person at the heart of all structures, which implies a.o. reconciliation, solidarity, subsidiarity and supra-nationality only where needed and four 13 year olds came up with an amazing classical Indian dance on precisely those four principles mentioned that were elaborated on in a poetic and very much accurate way.

All pupils had studied the book on The Father of Europe, with an introduction to Gandhi and M.L. King and knew all answers when asked about Schuman’s life, thoughts and deeds. Some fun activities related to the subject of solidarity after concluded this great event at the Rama Krishna secondary School.

An article on the Schuman event appeared in Hindi in a newspaper and another one in English in the Times of India, a leading national newspaper.

Pupils perform their self made Indian classical dance on Schuman’s Core concepts for peace which are – next to the person in line with the common good at the heart of all structures - an attitude & practice of Reconciliation, Solidarity, Subsidiarity and Supra-Nationality.
